Where to live during our year in England?

Requirements:

• Within two hours from London by bus/train (train connection is a must have)
• Possible to find a part time job for Karianne
• Good connections to an international airport
• Not an "industrial city" (Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester is out of the question)
• At least some free software community and gaming community (rpg/board games)
